Deliverance means to get freedom from the clutches of Satan

Deliverance is a part of a total healing ministry and also a part of each individual's experience of healing. We do not get rid of darkness, however, by staring at it. We get rid of it by turning on the light. In the same way, the darkness of Satan's influence in our lives leaves most easily when we allow the light of God's presence and Jesus' love to fill us more and more each day. I do not believe we are delivered "from" as much as we are delivered "to." Deliverance from evil spirits is only successful if we allow ourselves to be delivered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. That is why, in Luke 11:24-26, Jesus warns about seven spirits returning. There are only two camps to which we can belong. If we do not choose allegiance to the King of Kings and join Jesus' camp, then we will get swept up by the rebel forces of the enemy camp.

Colossians 1:13-14 tells us: "He (God the Father) delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." This "forgiveness of sins" is a key, I believe, to our deliverance. Padre Pio said, "Remember the demon has only only doorway by which to enter your soul: your will. There are no secret or hidden doors." While the enemy can tempt us and harass us from the outside, this kind of attack can generally be broken by a simple command for him to go in Jesus' Name and by the power of His Precious Blood. But stronger oppression occurs with our 'free-will choices' and it gives the devil certain rights of entry and rights of domain. It is not until we repent of sinful choices that forgiveness, healing and deliverance can come.

The strongest oppression comes from involvement in the occult, everything from Satanic practices, witchcraft, white and black magic, to fortune telling, ouija boards, horoscopes, and astrology, psychic readings, New Age practices, crystals, transcendental meditation, occult games like Dungeons and Dragons. The more involvement in occult practices, the stronger the oppression gets. Deliverance comes through repentance and renunciation or turning away. You cannot serve two masters. And Jesus alone won the victory over the devil's power. Turning to him can help us share in that victory.

Turn away from all darkness with your free-will choice (in spite of conflicting emotions) and commit your life to Jesus Christ:

Prayer to our lord

"Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Living God, I acknowledge You as my only Lord and Savior. I reject the devil and all of his works. I choose to turn away from all darkness and all sin in my life. I choose to give You Lordship over every area of my life. I surrender to You those areas in which I am still struggling, especially Show me with Your grace those changes I need to make and help me with those things I have no power to change. "

Repent of specific occult practices and repeated sin patterns: "I repent now of all occult involvement and reject it in the name of Jesus. I repent of (name specific areas of occult involvement and repeated sin patterns). Show me, Jesus, any occult practices or repeated sin patterns I may not recognize and help me to turn away from them.. I ask You to do what is necessary to break their hold in my life. "
